Blogtober Day 20 - What to do With Your Pumpkin After Halloween

Pumpkins are a massive part of Halloween. Going to a pumpkin patch or supermarket, picking the perfect one and taking it home to carve a creepy image into. Carving a pumpkin isn’t the only way to welcome in the season. People go nuts over Pumpkin Spice (literally) everything coming out in September. What about after Halloween though? What do you do with your pumpkin? I am here to tell you about the perfect way to get rid of your jack-o-lantern.

When you first bring your pumpkin home and scoop out the insides, there are lots you can do with it. Make pumpkin loaf or roast the seeds etc, then get to your masterpiece. Once Halloween is over and done with there is one very important thing you can do with your pumpkin.

Give it back to Nature

Of course, you can chuck it in the recycling bin but by taking it to a local woods, you can leave it out for all the animals that life there. We do this every year, and it is really nice to walk around the woods leaving pieces in random places or seeing where other families have left theirs. There are a couple of things to bear in mind if you are wanting to do this.

  1. Break the pumpkin up so animals like deer don’t get their head stuck in the pumpkin and get hurt. Also if you break it into pieces you can spread it throughout the walk.

  2. Don’t leave your pumpkin by the side of a path where animals are less likely come to. Take it a bit further off the path where people and dogs are less likely to walk and leave a scent.

  3. Be careful. If you are going off the path, don’t wander too far and lose the road. Also, be mindful of any animals that are already around you.

  4. As always, if you are walking in the wood and taking a picnic or something for yourself to eat, take any rubbish to the bin or home with you.

Love Always
