Santa Claus comes tonight and to ease your impatience, I have an early present for you! The 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag! Again I found this on Pinterest on “This Splendid Shambles” and she found it on Lizzie Loves Books.
There are a few repeats in there, but just because they are my genuine answers. You will see when you read through. Enjoy!
Favourite Stand Alone Book
“Piranesi” by Susanna Clarke. I loved this book so much. You can read my full review of it here. It is interesting, mysterious and thought provoking. The audiobook is amazing. It’s narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Kinkyboots”, “12 Years a Slave”) and he has the best voice for it.

2. Fictional OTP/Favourite Ship
My favourite ship is Max and Peterson from the Chronicles of St Mary’s series. I know they probably wouldn’t work as a couple and it’s been addressed in one of the later books but they are so perfect together.

3. Favourite Trilogy
I was going to use the “Scythe” trilogy but I haven’t actually finished it yet. I love The Lord of the Rings is an absolute classic and I would encourage anyone to read it at least once. (Just a heads up LOTR shows up a couple of times in this post).

4. Favourite Fictional Beast/Creature
I struggled with this because I don’t have a favourite fictional/mythical creature. I love dragons and like phoenixes but I thought I would use “Skandar and the Unicorn Thie” by A.F Steadman. Unicorns aren’t my favourite creature but I find it hilarious that they are the national animal for Scotland because, OF COURSE, they are. Not the magnificent stag that is used in every advertisement for Scotland, no we wanted to be extra, a chose a Unicorn.

5. Show 5 Golden Books
It turns out I don’t have 5 gold books so, I have one gold book and 4 yellowish/creamy books. The books shown are:
“Iliad & Odyssey” by Homer
“The Dance Tree” by Karen Millwood Hargrave
“The Queens Fool” by Philippa Gregory
“The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak
“Assassin’s Apprentice” by Robin Hobb
6. Least Favourite Book
I really didn’t like “Witch Miss Seaton” by Heron Carvic. A lot of it didn’t really make sense and it was a bit boring. It also had one of my pet peeves of using witchcraft (but it’s actually Satanism) as a cult and involving murder.

7. A book with water on the cover
I got this book in a book subscription and it looks so interesting. I’m looking forward to reading this next year. From what I can tell, it is about living up to expectations and feeling worthy of a “miracle”

8. Fictional food you wish you could taste
Lambas Bread. I want to know if it’s sweet, I imagine it tastes like shortbread but James disagrees. It would be a bit dull if it tasted like a pita bread or something. I will need to get one of these Lord of Rings cookbooks and see if Lambas bread is in it.
You can grab a copy of The Lord of the Rings trilogy here
9. Favourite dance between characters
I can’t remember a single book where characters dance except “Just One Damned Thing After Another” by Jodi Taylor, the first in the St Marys series. When Max and Leon dance for the first time together it is classic Jodi. Romantic, a bit awkward, sweet and funny.
You can grab a copy of “Just One Damned Thing After Another” here
10. Favourite book to movie adaptation
The best adaptation I have seen is “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. It was like watching the book, it was so close if that makes sense". Plus Viggo Mortenson is always a great actor to watch.

11. Favourite book to movie adaptation soundtrack
If anyone says that the soundtrack for The Lord of the Rings movies isn’t the best, they either haven’t heard it or they are lying. Seriously though, it is an awesome, beautiful soundtrack and fits the whole feel of the books, in my opinion.

12. Favourite Book Ending
The ending of “The Hobbit” is so cool. It’s sad and hopeful at the same time. It’s a fabulous setup for “The Lord of the Rings” and Bilbo is a great character.
